Speciation and mutualism are the primary interests of our laboratory. We study the ecology, behavior and systematics of coral reef organisms, particularly snapping shrimp, stony corals and their microbial symbionts. Field work is based primarily in Panama and Brazil, with laboratory analyses drawing on the techniques of molecular genetics.
